Mac and Tosh is my first attempt at producing a Digital Comic. I've been self-publishing comics for ten years and not long after buying my Macintosh I decided to do a comic that could be distributed on a floppy disc. Although there are now means of storing data on other types of dics that are more economic for larger amounts of memory, floppy discs are still the cheapest to buy (per disc) and the easiest to distribute. I'm also not very rich and can't afford a CD ROM writer yet.
I've kept the artwork very simple so that I could fit as many pages as possible onto a disc and I've used SimpleCard to enable the reader to 'turn' the pages as it's a good basic application and does not use much space. By keeping the artwork as simple as possible I've managed to produce pages that only average 35k in memory space. The artwork was produced on Brushstrokes set at 72 dots per inch.
If you want to keep SimpleCard just to read my work there is no obligation to send money to Niklas Frykholm, but if you would like to use it to make your own documents please pay him. As for Mac and Tosh, I've decided to make it a Worthware document. That means you only pay me what you think it is worth (about £1.50 I think, the average price of a printed colour comic). If you think it's awful then you pay nothing, if you think it's great and has enhanced your life then pay me £100, if you think it's great but don't want to pay me then you can pretend that it's awful. If you have bought this on a disc from me then you have already paid the shareware fee. If you have paid me anything you can then use Mac and Tosh as clip art in any non-commercial project you can think of, but if you are hoping to make money from it please let me know so that we can work out a fee. You can't copy direct from Mac and Tosh but you can do a screen capture by pressing command-shift-3 and then copy from the resulting SimpleText document.
Mac and Tosh can be freely distributed, but it must have this Read Me file included with it.
